There are aspects of a city's history that can only be understood through its buildings. There is an element of Buenos Aires' history that can only be truly known and comprehended through the Kavanagh Building. In 1934, the Kavanagh represented a potential future for the city of Buenos Aires; therein lies its historical significance.
During the brief two-year period of its development and construction, the Kavanagh embodied a specific proposition—a model of urban development and production. Kavanagh Buenos Aires brings together unique accounts, research texts, and critical and historical analyses. It features nearly 300 original photographs created specifically for the book, accompanied by significant images of great historical and documentary value.
Its chapters explore the building's architecture and interior design, as well as the artistic and literary expressions it has inspired. The edition also provides access to drone footage through the pages of the book.
Conceived and directed by Guillermo Alonso, the project was produced by publisher and designer Ezequiel Díaz Ortiz, together with photographers Emma Livingston and Gustavo Sosa Pinilla. Researchers Silvio Plotquin, Mariana Fiorito, and Eleonora Menéndez authored the texts. Architect Marcelo Nougués and Ambassador Sergio Baur developed the sections devoted to design and décor, and to the Kavanagh's connection with literature and the arts, respectively.
